What is MBBS ?
MBBS is nothing but an undergraduate programme for aspirants whose only aim is to excel in medicine and become a doctor. Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in medical science is the basic qualification of a medical practitioner.
The duration of MBBS course is five years and six months including one year of rotational internship at hospitals, health centres, and health camps organised by non-profit organisations (NGOs).
What does MBBS cover ?
The essential course covers the syllabus includes studies on anatomy, pharmacology, pathology as well as community health & medicine, paediatrics, and surgery. Conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA), National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test is a national level entrance exam for medical aspirants to get admission for MBBS, BDS and professional medical courses at educational institutions in India.

Similarly, the criteria for minimum qualifying marks to be eligible for admission to MBBS course shall also be applicable to INIs. Further, the common counseling for admission to MBBS in these INIs shall be conducted by the DGHS as per the Time Schedule specified in the MCI’s regulations.
The responsibility of the NTA is limited to the conduct of the entrance examination, declaration of result and for providing an “All India Rank Merit List” to the Directorate General Health Service, Government of India for the conduct of counselling for 15% All India Quota Seats and for providing the result to States/other Counselling Authorities.
